A Connecticut manufacturer of aerospace components could nearly triple its workforce under a pair of planned expansion projects in the coming years.
The Hartford Courant reports that Polamer Precision acquired 27 acres of property in its headquarters of New Britain, Connecticut, and plans to add machining operations for new product lines and warehouse and logistics facilities.
Polamer currently employs 240 people to produce commercial and defense aircraft and engine parts for companies including GE, Pratt & Whitney, Rolls Royce, and Sikorsky. The company reportedly reached a recent $80 million deal with Rolls Royce and anticipates signing a second major deal soon.
“This is our next step to another seven years of expected growth,” Chris Galik, the company’s president, said in a press conference, according to the Hartford Business Journal.
Polamer expects to add 110 to 160 jobs through 2022 in the first phase of the expansion, with 200 to 300 more added in a second phase.
The projects will be built on seven acres of the company’s new property, with the rest remaining vacant for potential future expansion, the Courant reported. Polamer expects to receive local government incentives, but officials said the project is also contingent on state incentives that remain in the works.
