New Jersey automotive supplier CRP Industries will begin producing power steering systems at a newly announced 50,000-square-foot facility in South Carolina next month.
The factory in Conway, about 20 miles inland from Myrtle Beach, is expected to create 115 new jobs over the next five years. CRP plans to begin operations in the middle of September and eventually invest $2.5 million in the plant.
CRP officials cited the area’s manufacturing workforce, financial and technical assistance from local government, and a partnership with Horry-Georgetown Technical College for its decision to expand to Conway. In addition to its New Jersey facilities, CRP operates factories in North Carolina and Mexico.
The new factory will initially make advanced electric power steering systems for the auto aftermarket under its AAE brand, but officials said more products would be added in coming years.
In addition to AAE steering components, CRP-owned brands also include Rein replacement parts, Pentosin fluids, Continental belts, AJUSA gaskets and head bolts, Reinflex high-pressure thermoplastic hoses, and Perske high-speed motors.
“We are excited to begin this new chapter in the growth of CRP Industries Inc. with the state of South Carolina, Horry County, and the city of Conway as our partners,” CRP CEO Dan Schildge said in the announcement from the state’s Commerce Department.
