Teleo, a developer of semi-autonomous solutions for construction equipment, announcedthe first deployment of its technology at a customer job site. Tomahawk Construction, Teleo’s customer, plans to use the autonomous functions on articulated dump trucks to construct a residential community in Naples, Florida.
The capabilities will allow Tomahawk Construction’s vehicles to haul materials autonomously from one location to another. Tomahawk expects to introduce the autonomous feature to three machines and gradually expand to 12.
Teleo’s technology enables construction site operators to manage multiple machines simultaneously during material transport. It also allows a single operator to control multiple vehicles during the dumping process.
Teleo CEO and co-founder Vinay Shet mentioned that the company’s technology could help address labor shortages in the construction sector while enhancing operator safety and comfort.
Teleo also revealed partnerships with eight new construction clients, including Ajax Paving Industries of FL LLC. According to Teleo, the new customers have placed orders for 42 retrofitted machines from John Deere, Volvo, Caterpillar, and other brands. Teleo expects to deploy the machines to 17 job sites across eight states and Europe.
The company aims to deploy 20 machines at customer sites by 2024.
