Urban air mobility company Doroni Aerospaceannouncedthat it received airworthiness certification from the FAA for its eVTOL, the Doroni H1. The FAA certification grants Doroni Aerospace authorization to operate its eVTOL in flight.
The fully electric Doroni H1 is described as a personal, two-seat flying car designed for everyday use and anytime access. Doroni Aerospace expects the aircraft to be used in military, first responder, and law enforcement applications as well.
According to the company’swebsite, the aircraft features advanced safety features, including emergency airbags, increased lift and stability, 10 independent propulsion systems, ducted propellers, energy-dissipating body and landing gear, a whole airframe ballistic parachute, and multiple redundancy batteries.
Additionally, the 1,850-pound Doroni H1 features a 500-pound payload, a cruising speed of 100 miles per hour, and a top speed of 140 miles per hour. Despite its airworthiness, the aircraft, which measures 23 feet long, 15 feet wide, and 5.5 feet high, can fit in a standard two-car garage. It also boasts an estimated range of 60 miles and can charge from 20% to 80% in 15 to 20 minutes.
The company has reportedly completed over 70 test flights, which includes the first manned flight of a two-seater personal eVTOL.
Doroni Aerospace is accepting aircraft preorders and says the waiting list exceeds 370, representing $110 million in potential sales. The company has accumulated about $2.2 million on the crowd-investing platformStartEnginein a funding round that ended on December 11, 2023.
Doroni Aerospace expects deliveries to begin in the fourth quarter of 2024.
