Defense and space manufacturer Anduril Industries announced plans to construct a $1 billion manufacturing facility near Columbus, Ohio. The company expects the factory, dubbed “Arsenal-1,” to begin producing autonomous air vehicles and military drones in July 2026.
5 Million Square Feet and 4,000 Jobs
Anduril reportedly will start construction on the five million-square-foot site once it secures local and state approvals. The location will feature two 12,000-foot runways, a 75-acre apron for military-scale aircraft, and 500 acres designated for expansion.
The company projects that the plant will create over 4,000 jobs, along with 8,500 from construction, suppliers, and other areas.
Introducing Arsenal OS
The facility will utilize Arsenal OS, an integrated manufacturing platform designed to mass-produce weapons and autonomous systems. The plant will also use a consistent set of manufacturing processes, tooling, and machinery for each autonomous vehicle it makes.
Anduril expects Arsenal-1’s flexibility to enable the reallocation of essential manufacturing resources, such as materials, machines, capital, and people, allowing it to introduce new products, meet evolving requirements, and scale production during demand surges.
Adding to Ohio’s Aerospace Presence
Arsenal-1 joins other aerospace companies with operations in Ohio, including GE Aerospace and eVTOL manufacturer Joby Aviation. The factory will also complement other Anduril locations in Mississippi, Rhode Island, Georgia, California, and Australia.
