According to a recent consumer study commissioned by Amazon, Australian workers are embracing AI and robotics in their workplaces because it helps save them significant time each day.
Four out of five Australian workers believe AI and robotics could save them as much as 61 minutes per day. According to the Amazon report, this adds up to 32 full working days annually. Almost 60% of workers surveyed already use automation daily, and 36% felt they were leveraging AI to its full potential.
91% of workers said they saw their work positively impacted when integrating AI and robotics into their roles. The benefits included increased efficiency (51%), improved productivity (45%), and a reduction in repetitive tasks (38%).
It isn’t just workers who are cozying up to this trend: according to the 2024 Thomas Index Report, big names like Ford are using robotics and automation to perform complex tasks, enhance productivity, and reduce errors.
We also see companies like Best Buy using robots to sift through inventory to better serve customers and OMRON’s autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) revolutionizing seamless cargo transportation.
In the past decade in Australia, AI and robotics have contributed to the creation of 109,955 new jobs. With robots doing more routine tasks, skilled jobs in Australia have increased by 43% since 2004.
Globally, Amazon’s enthusiasm for robotics has led to the creation of 700 new job categories. Boston Dynamics’ Spot and the humanoid Atlas have shown how incredibly sophisticated modern robotics can be. All of this is just further evidence of how the AI revolution stands to change our workplaces.
