A manufacturer of ducting and hoses plans to spend more than $4 million to convert a former textile mill in North Carolina into its new southeastern U.S. hub.
Flexaust, based in northern Indiana, will spend $3.7 million on new equipment and more than $500,000 on building renovations at the site in Burlington, North Carolina, the Triad Business Journal reports. The company makes flexible ducting and hoses for industrial and commercial applications involving air, dust, fumes, and lightweight materials.
Mike Harvey, the company’s general manager, said that as Flexaust officials searched in the region, Burlington — located between the cities of Greensboro and Raleigh — stood out as “the perfect fit for our company to expand.”
The expansion is expected to create 47 jobs in the area. Flexaust plans to begin renovations immediately and open the new facility early next year.
The Journal reported that the company received nearly $300,000 in state and local government incentives, including grants for building reuse and worker training.
