President Trump Hosts “Made in America” Product Showcase at White House

On July 23, President Donald Trump hosted the second annual “Made in America” product showcase event at the White House to celebrate the wide variety of products manufactured in the United States, as well as the folks who produce those goods. The showcase featured goods from all 50 states and included items such as cowboy hats, jeans, baseball bats, donuts, firetrucks, astronaut suits, and fighter jets.

The president has long been a proponent of supporting American manufacturersand built a large portion of his 2016 campaign on the promise of reinvesting in American manufacturing companies. Since his inauguration, Trump has continued to focus a lot of energy on empowering the manufacturing industry.

Companies of all sizes were afforded the opportunity to display and demonstrate their prized merchandise across the South Lawn, as well as the State Floor of the White House. President Trump and Vice President Mike Pence ambled through the exhibition, visiting and chatting with representativesfrom each company. The president and vice president also got a chance to try out a number of the products.

Among those in attendance were industry titans such Connecticut-based Sikorsky of Lockheed Martin, as well as niche companies such as Vermont cookie cutter manufacturer Ann Clark, Ltd.

After making the rounds, the president addressed all the workers and business leaders, saying, “We want to build, create, and grow more products in our country using American labor, American goods, and American grit. When we purchase products made in the USA, the profits stay here, the revenue stays here, and the jobs — maybe most importantly of all — they stay right here in the USA.”

Trump concluded the event by signing a proclamation that designated July 17 as “Made in America Day, as well as declaring July 16 through July 22 as “Made in America Week," encouraging Americans to support and honor U.S. manufacturing companies across the country.
