Bridgestone Debuts Grand Touring Tire for Tesla, Ford

Tire manufacturer Bridgestone Americas announced a new Turanza grand touring tire that targets premium EVs, including Teslas and the Ford Mustang Mach-E. According to Bridgestone, the Turanza EV tire features a long mileage range, sustainable longevity, minimal ride noise, wet braking and handling, and improved tread life.

Bridgestone manufactured the tire at its facilities in Wilson, North Carolina, and Monterrey, Mexico, with five sizes for all four Tesla models and the Mach-E. The company added that it would launch 13 more sizes in 2024.

The tire debuts Bridgestone’s ENLITEN technology, which provides longer wear life, optimizes all-season performance, and allows for the implementation of recycled and renewable materials in tires.

Examples of sustainable materials, which make up 50% of the tire, include recycled synthetic rubber, plastic bottles and bags, carbon black, soybean oil, and Rice Husk Silica from rice husks. The Turanza EV tires also introduced a new ENLITEN technology called PeakLife, a next-generation polymer technology that improves the tread’s resistance to wear.

Bridgestone said it aims to eventually deploy ENLITEN across its entire product line. The Turanza EV grand touring tire aligns with Bridgestone’s goal to use exclusively renewable and recycled materials by 2050.
