Gorbel, a renowned provider of material-handling solutions, has announced the launch of their latest unloading technology — the Destuff-it™ machine, a revolutionary product designed to streamline the unloading process, reduce labor hours, and, ultimately, enhance productivity for companies.
The Destuff-it™ is purposefully designed to improve the efficiency of unloading operations by increasing the number of turns per door, eliminating demurrage, standby, and drop trailer charges, and cutting down the overall unload time by as much as 50%. The conveyor belt moves in one direction and can handle a capacity of up to 165 lbs, with a speed range of 86 to 108 fpm. The machine also includes an operator platform capable of holding up to 550 lbs, and with a travel speed of 50 fpm, the Destuff-it™ can easily be used for multi-shift operations.
“For most companies, there is a constant drive to reduce costs without compromising quality, and for distribution centers, unloading floor-loaded products faster while minimizing damage is key to optimizing operations,” said Brian Reh, president of Gorbel. “The Destuff-it™’s unique design and capabilities enable workers to unload containers with ease, optimizing worker position and improving overall productivity.”

The Destuff-it™ machine optimizes the worker’s position to the box wall for higher throughput, reducing the burdened labor rate for unloading each trailer. For example, unloading 20 trailers per week would cost $15,360 per month and $184,320 per year, but with the Destuff-it™, the monthly cost is reduced to $7,680, resulting in an annual savings of $92,160, despite the potential need for additional workers to palletize the product on the dock.
By significantly reducing labor hours and increasing throughput, the Destuff-it™ helps to cut costs, minimize product damage, and boost overall efficiency for companies, making it an essential tool for any modern warehouse. Bi-directional, or Restuff-it™, units are also available for both loading and unloading operations.
