Mullen Automotive Begins Production of Class 3 Electric Truck

Mullen Automotive has officially started production of its new Class 3 electric truck at the company’s Northwest Mississippi assembly plant, company officials announced.

The Southern California-based electric vehicle (EV) startup said that production of the Mullen THREE would gradually increase between September and December at the Tunica, Mississippi, factory. The plant eventually expects to churn out 3,000 trucks per year.

Mullen says the low cab forward THREE offers a gross vehicle weight rating of 11,000 pounds, a 38-foot turning diameter aimed at urban driving, and an estimated 130-mile driving range. It can accommodate payloads of more than 5,800 pounds and truck bodies as long as 14 feet.

The truck starts at a suggested retail price of $68,500 and should meet the $7,500 federal tax incentive requirements. Mullen said it has already received orders for 1,250 trucks worth $79 million from commercial vehicle sales and leasing firm MGT Lease Company and North Carolina dealership group Randy Marion. The company indicated that it is on track to make its first deliveries to customers beginning in August.

In addition to the THREE, Mullen is also working on electric crossovers, SUVs, delivery vehicles, and Class 1 and 2 trucks. The company added a second factory in Indiana late last year as part of its acquisition of Electric Last Mile Solutions.
