Beverage company Diageo North America unveiled plans to open Diageo Montgomery, a $415 million manufacturing and warehousing site in Montgomery, Alabama. The company expects the 360,000-square-foot facility to produce millions of cases of its alcoholic beverage brands annually.
Creating 100 Full-Time Jobs
Diageo said the site would create nearly 750 jobs during construction and employ about 100 full-time workers once it becomes fully operational later this year.
Increasing Sustainability
Diageo Montgomery is part of a multi-year initiative across several regions. The program looks to improve Diageo’s global supply chain, minimize productivity costs, and increase sustainability.
The Alabama location aims to establish operations near Diageo’s southern beverage distributors, reducing road travel and lowering carbon emissions. The company added that the facility’s technology would enable more efficient energy and water use.
Local Investments
Diageo also announced a $750,000 investment in Tuskegee University, Alabama State University, and Alabama A&M, aligning with the company’s commitment to supporting Minority-Serving Institutions and Historically Black Colleges and Universities.
Diageo’s alcoholic beverage brands include Johnnie Walker whisky, Smirnoff vodka, and Captain Morgan rum. Its products are available in more than 180 countries.
