Protective Packaging Manufacturer Announces $80 Million Investment in South Carolina Facility

An Illinois-based manufacturer of protective packaging materials will establish a new $80 million facility for its blown film extrusion operations in upstate South Carolina, company officials announced.

Pregis said the 168,000 square-foot complex in Anderson will feature multiple new lines to produce state-of-the-art engineered films, which will ultimately be used by companies to package food products, consumer goods, and medical equipment.

It will also include a laboratory to test and develop new film materials and feature energy-efficient manufacturing technology.

The company expects the project to create 120 new jobs.

Pregis executives said they believe the Anderson site will be “the most technologically advanced extrusion facility in North America.”

“The facility has been staffed with technology and market leaders who are focused on developing extruded films that have been engineered to meet market-driven performance requirements,” Pregis President and CEO Kevin Baudhuin said in a statement.

The company said the new site will begin operations by September.

The expansion into South Carolina will establish Pregis operations in 18 states overall. The company also operates locations in France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, and the U.K.
