Robotics Maker Opens New York Facility

A developer and manufacturer of industrial robots this month inaugurated a new complex that doubles the size of its previous North American hub.

Mobile Industrial Robots (MiR) officials said the company outgrew its first overseas office in Holbrook, New York after just three years. The new two-building campus, located in the same city, features the company’s first showroom outside its headquarters in Odense, Denmark.

MiR officials noted that North America accounts for 30% of overall sales of its autonomous mobile robots — making the region the company’s largest market — and that U.S. sales doubled from 2018 to 2019.

The company said its factory robots help optimize production logistics and are utilized by large manufacturers such as Ford, Toyota, Raytheon, and ABB. MiR also operates an office in San Diego, as well as at sites in Germany, Spain, China, and Singapore.

“The growth potential is huge, with many of our multinational customers now investing in multiple AMRs,” Ed Mullen, MiR’s vice president of sales for the Americas, said in a statement.
