Building products manufacturer Johns Manville announced this week plans to expand its facility in central Kansas to accommodate a new production line.
The Denver-based company, a subsidiary of Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway, said the new line in McPherson, Kansas, would produce its Climate Pro brand of blowing wool insulation to help meet current and future demand. The McPherson site, located north of Wichita, offers a centralized location in close proximity to many of its markets, company officials said.
Construction is expected to begin this year and wrap up in 2021; at that time, officials said the facility should house more than 330 workers. New positions will include operators, maintenance technicians and warehouse staff, the company said.
Bob Wamboldt, president of JM’s insulation systems business, said in a statement that the project “positions Johns Manville to offer more of this premium product to our customers.”
Johns Manville produces a wide range of insulation for commercial and residential facilities, along with roofing products and engineered materials. The company employs 8,000 across 42 manufacturing facilities in North America, Europe and China.
