Solar energy systems maker Boviet Solar expects to begin production of solar modules at its facility in eastern North Carolina later this year, company officials announced.
The $294 million hub in Greenville will primarily make the Vietnamese company’s Gamma Series Monofacial and Vega Series Bifacial photovoltaic modules.
Manufacturing Modules
The module plant, opening in the first half of 2025, represents the first phase of construction in North Carolina — Boviet’s first production facility in North America. That facility will be able to produce 2 gigawatts’ worth of solar modules per year.
Phase II to Add Solar Cells
The second phase, expected to begin manufacturing in the first half of next year, would add high-efficiency solar cells to its operations.
At full capacity, the module and cell production sites are expected to house more than 900 manufacturing jobs.
Equipment in Place Soon
The company indicated that it has received all the equipment for its forthcoming plant in Greenville and has installed more than half of it on the shop floor. The remainder will be in place by the end of January.
