Car shoppers in 48 cities across the U.S. can now purchase their new vehicle on Amazon, the technology and e-commerce giant recently announced.
Amazon Autos
Amazon first announced late last year that it would add vehicle sales to its platform in partnership with Korean automaker Hyundai.
The service, named Amazon Autos, officially launched on Dec. 10 in 48 markets from coast to coast, ranging from New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, and other major cities to smaller markets, such as Beaumont, Texas, Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, and Harrisonburg, Virginia.
Financing, Trade-ins, and Checkouts
Amazon officials said the service allows buyers to search vehicles by make, model, color, trim, and features at a local dealership. They can then secure financing—or pay in full—before electronically signing documents and completing the checkout process.
The vehicle would then be scheduled for pickup at the dealership.
Amazon added that an independent third party would be able to provide a valuation of buyers’ current cars to trade in toward the purchase of a new vehicle.
Fan Jin, the global head of Amazon Autos, said that the platform offers a car-shopping experience that is “transparent, convenient, and customer-friendly.”
Adding More Cities, Companies
Amazon Autos debuted by offering new Hyundai vehicles, and the company said it would continue adding more Hyundai dealerships. In 2025, the company plans to bring additional cities and other automakers into its network.
