Nissan to Reveal New Energy Concept Cars

On April 15, 2024, leading Japanese car manufacturer Nissan announced that it will showcase its latest innovations in AI-driven mobility solutions by revealing its new energy concept cars. The stars of the show will be the Formula E Gen3 race car, and the Hyper Force concept car, which are due to be exhibited at the 18th Beijing International Automobile Exhibition that starts on April 25. 

All-Electric Nissan Hyper Force Concept Car

The Nissan Hyper Force,already exhibitedat the Japan Mobility Show on October 25, 2023, is a next-gen,eco-friendly EV sports concept cardesigned for a superior ride and features a host of innovations, including Nissan’s advanced e-4ORCE all-wheel control technology—perfect for sharp turns on circuits, and an all-solid-state battery with a 1,000 kW power output for quick and accurate acceleration.

This supercar, which the company developed with the NISMO racing team, sports a two-tiered aerodynamic design for impressive downforce and efficient cooling, and a patent-pending dual-level rear diffuser to control airflow. There’s also a virtual gaming platform with a VR gaming helmet for drivers to safely improve their on-road skills by practicing alone or racing others online.

Formula E Gen3 Race Car

As the only Japanese car manufacturer in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, Nissan is aiming to take the sport to the next level with the release of the Gen3s—cars which the company claims are the “world’s most efficient racing cars.” The car has already helped the Nissan Formula E team win four times in its ten seasons.

The rear-wheel drive Gen3 has a front regenerating motor that allows a minimum of 40% of the energy used in a race to be created by braking. Smaller and lighter in weight than the Gen2s, the agile Gen3s also have outputs of 350 kW, and can reach speeds of up to 322 km/h.

Nissan’s Global Business Plan—The Arc

These energy concept cars are part of Nissan’s new global business plan dubbed “The Arc” designed to help the company achieve itsAmbition 2030 vision. Via this plan, the company aims to advance electrification, develop new and more efficient manufacturing methods, strengthen its partnerships, and increase growth by 2030.

By 2026, the company plans to release 30 new cars (16 of them will be EVs), refresh 60% of ICE vehicles, reduce the cost of next-gen EVs by 30%, and achieve a 1-million-unit sales increase and over 6% operating profit margin.
