Van and truck equipment maker Auto Truck Group will invest $6 million in a new manufacturing facility in northeastern Indiana, state economic development officials announced this week.
ATG, which designs, manufactures, and installs equipment for vehicles serving a wide range of industries, said it would move from its current facility in Roanoke, Indiana, southwest of Fort Wayne, into a nearly 73,000-square-foot building. The expansion is expected to create as many as 50 new jobs by the end of 2022.
Company officials said ATG quickly outgrew its Roanoke operations amid “unprecedented growth.”
“This new, state-of-the-art manufacturing facility will further enhance our production capabilities as we continue to develop customized vehicles for every type of vocational application,” ATG President Pete Dondlinger said in the announcement.
The company, headquartered in suburban Chicago, currently upfits some 42,000 commercial vehicles annually across 12 locations, including a second Indiana facility in Huntington. ATG particularly serves the construction, energy, utility, telecommunications, and railroad industries, as well as state and local governments.
The Indiana Economic Development Corp. approved up to $300,000 in tax credits provided the company meets its hiring goals. The company will also receive recruiting and training assistance and could receive additional aid from Allen County.
