A Southern California manufacturer of weapons systems plans to relocate to Tennessee, local economic development officials announced this week.
WTVF-TV reports that VK Integrated Systems plans to move from Fullerton, California, to Clarksville over the next 12 to 18 months. The company is in the process of building a new facility in the area, but the station noted that office space is already secured and top VK executives could relocate as early as next month.
Ultimately, as many as 50 high-paying jobs could shift from California to Tennessee.
The Clarksville-Montgomery County Industrial Development Board said VK cited the city’s strategic location and the economic development group’s partnership with the U.S. Army base at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. The board also credited its strategy of targeting tech companies in "higher tax burden states.”
"We have been impressed with the community and all the valuable assets they will bring to the table that will help continue our success,” Vasilios Kapogianis, the company’s president and CEO, said in a statement.
VK develops and produces hardware, software, and other components for firearms with embedded electronics.
