A North Carolina process equipment manufacturer plans to expand its operations and add 90 new jobs at its headquarters, state economic development officials announced Wednesday.
Hockmeyer Equipment Corp., which makes immersion mills, mixers, dispersers, agitators, discharge presses and tank washers in Elizabeth City, North Carolina, will invest $6 million to add 35,000 square feet of space. The company is primarily known for its mills for particle size reduction for inks and coatings.
President and CEO Herman Hockmeyer said the project would accommodate the new equipment needed to meet the company’s expanding production and workforce targets.
“This project is a true investment in future technologies for continued innovation to serve our clients around the world,” Hockmeyer said in the announcement.
A $300,000 state grant — which must be matched by local governments — will support the expansion provided Hockmeyer meets investment and job goals. The average wage of the new positions will be more than $37,000.
