L3Harris Chooses Honeywell System for U.S. Army Intelligence Aircraft Upgrade

L3Harris Technologies has chosenHoneywell’s JetWave™ X satellite communication system for the military to provide soldiers with better, faster, and more reliable global connectivity duringmissions.

Honeywell, L3Harris Partnership

Honeywell Aerospace Technologies, a leader in commercial and military aircraft solutions, announced a new partnership with defence contractorL3Harrison May 15, 2025.

L3Harris will use JetWave X to upgrade ARES (Airborne Reconnaissance and Electronic Warfare System), a military aircraft used for intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance missions, that it operates for theU.S. Army.

JetWave X

JetWave X is a high-speed satellite communication system designed to keep aircraft connected at all times. It can switch between multiple satellite networks—including Inmarsat Global Xpress and ViaSat-3—for consistent and strong signals.

An upgrade of the company’s JetWaveTM SATCOM system, JetWave X is faster and more flexible than previous systems. It’s also built to work with both current and future satellite technologies, with compatibility for upcoming Ka-band satellite networks.

Mission Readiness

Defense and space president at Honeywell, Matt Milas, noted the importance of providing army pilots with real-time data access and uninterrupted connectivity during missions in order to make critical decisions.

The collaboration is part of a broader effort to modernize military tech and keep the U.S. Army mission-ready at all times.
