A new battery electric vehicle (BEV) is coming from giant automaker Mitsubishi Motors, and it’ll be on sale in North America in the summer of 2026.
Mitsubishi Momentum 2030
The announcement of the new BEV comes shortly after Mitsubishi revealed its Momentum 2030 product strategy, which is designed to strengthen the company’s business in the U.S.
The strategy includes several commitments, such as a closer collaboration with the company’s partners in the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance, increased investment in electrification, and a stronger focus on design and engineering that’s tailored to North American consumers.
New Mitsubishi Vehicles
We already knew that a new model was in the works—the strategy also included the launch of either an all-new or significantly updated vehicle each year through 2030.
The company has already begun to deliver on that promise, launching the updated Outlander SUV in 2025—the world’s first plug-in hybrid SUV.
Mitsubishi BEV 2026
Although no info on the BEV’s name, appearance, pricing, or technical specifications have been provided as yet, what we do know is that (i) Mitsubishi will collaborate with Nissan to bring the new BEV to the North American market, and (ii) the car will be based on Nissan’s LEAF.
The LEAF is one of the world’s best-selling EVs, known for its affordability, reliability, and practicality. Mitsubishi’s new BEV will likely follow in a similar vein, making the car ideal for urban drivers or small families.
