The U.S. Small Business Administration recently introduced a new grant program to fund technical assistance and training for three small manufacturers.
The "Manufacturing in America” Initiative
SBA officials said the Manufacturing in America Grant Initiative — which is part of the organization’s Made in America Manufacturing Initiative — will allocate a total of $1.1 million to three manufacturers enrolled in the agency’s “Empower to Grow” program. This initiative offers business courses, hands-on training, and “one-on-one” consulting services to participating small businesses.
Key Industries
The agency said the effort could include small companies in “key industries” such as aluminum, steel, energy, and timber.
Experience with Training and Technical Assistance
Potential recipients, officials noted, can either be small businesses or larger companies, trade or professional associations, or educational institutions with experience providing training and technical assistance to small manufacturers. They must also have operated continually for at least three years.
The deadline to file proposals with the federal government’s grant website was Monday.
