Carrier recently announced plans to spend an additional $1 billion on its U.S. manufacturing footprint over the next five years.
The maker of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment said it expects the investment to create thousands of jobs over that span.
A New Components Plant
The initiative, the company said, will fund both the expansion of its existing facilities and the construction of a new, “state-of-the-art” manufacturing hub.
The new plant would support production of engineered components for battery assemblies and heat pumps, which Carrier said would be “essential” to its “Home Energy Management System.”
The announcement did not disclose the location of the new facility or which plants would be expanded.
Bolstering R&D
Carrier said the spending would also accelerate its research and development efforts, particularly those in battery-enabled technologies and liquid cooling for data centers.
4,000 Jobs
The company expects the investment to create some 4,000 jobs in manufacturing, R&D, and field service roles. That total includes the “TechVantage” initiative announced earlier this year, which aims to add 1,000 service technicians and train over 100,000 “climate solutions” sales and service personnel over five years.
