
Qatar Airways has just made aviation history with two massive deals withBoeingand GE Aerospace. The agreements were announced during a visit by President Donald Trump to Qatar onMay 14, 2025.
Boeing Aircraft Order
In what marks the largest order inBoeing’s history, Qatar Airways agreed to purchase up to 210 widebody aircraft from the aerospace manufacturer.
The deal includes 130 fuel-efficient 787 Dreamliners and 30 of the new 777-9 jets, with options for 50 more.
GE Aerospace Engine Order
To power these new aircraft, Qatar Airways has also signed a deal withGE Aerospacefor over 400 engines. Again, this is another first as it’s the biggest widebody engine order in GE’s history.
This includes 60 GE9X engines for the 777-9s and 260 GEnx engines for the 787s, along with extra options and spares.
Qatar Airways Sustainability Focus
Qatar Airways has already been recognized as the World’s Best Airline by Skytrax eight times, and these new deals will only help add to the company’s reputation of excellence and sustainability.
The Boeing planes ordered are designed to reduce fuel use and emissions by 25% compared to the aircraft they replace. In addition, GE’senginesare known for their fuel efficiency and long-range capabilities.
Landmark Aviation Deals
As well as expanding Qatar Airways’ fleet, these landmark deals are also expected to support nearly 400,000 jobs in the U.S.
Qatar Airways’ ultimate goal is to offer passengers a modern, efficient, and comfortable flying experience, while also reducing its environmental footprint.
