Startup Cup Manufacturer Announces Initial Factory in Pennsylvania

A startup maker of paper cups plans to establish its first manufacturing facility in eastern Pennsylvania, state economic development officials announced this week.

Continental Cup Co. (CCC), which says it will produce “high-end graphic paper cups,” will lease a 40,000-square-foot building in a Bethlehem industrial park. The company expects to invest $9.5 million to set up shop in the city; officials said the facility would lead to 71 new jobs over the next three years.

CCC said it would supply cups to convenience stores and fast-food restaurants, as well as foodservice distribution companies and movie theaters.

“We are extremely excited for our very first operation in Northampton County and proud of our contribution to the local economy providing family-sustaining jobs that will have a positive impact on Bethlehem and surrounding communities,” CCC President Rick Timone said in a statement from the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development.

The company is eligible for a state grant totaling $155,000, as well as $142,000 in tax credits for meeting job creation goals and nearly $32,000 for in workforce training funding. CCC’s equipment costs could also be offset with help from a $400,000 low-interest loan from the state.
