Vehicle Fan Manufacturer to Expand to South Carolina

A Minnesota automotive fan manufacturer this week announced plans to establish a new factory in South Carolina.

State economic development officials said the Horton Holding facility is expected to create 125 jobs in Oconee County, located in the state’s far northwestern corner.

Horton produces fans, fan drives, and other engine cooling equipment for trucks and buses, as well as industrial, agricultural, and construction vehicles. The new factory will boast 100,000 square feet and is expected to begin operations early next year.

Hiring is slated to begin in the final quarter of 2019.

“Horton is thrilled about opening a new manufacturing facility in Oconee County,” Cordell Dietz, the company’s president and CEO, said in a statement. “This plant will position Horton well to meet our growth objectives over the coming years.”

South Carolina officials approved job development tax credits to support the project and offered a $540,000 grant to the county to assist with infrastructure upgrades.

The new factory would join more than 15 Horton locations worldwide, including U.S. factories in the Twin Cities area, Britton, South Dakota, and Carmel, Indiana.
