Hexagon Building $16 Million Detroit-Area Technology Hub

Manufacturing technology company Hexagon this month announced plans to consolidate its Michigan operations in a $16 million new facility in the Detroit suburb of Novi.

Crain’s Detroit Business reports that construction of the new technology hub began in January and is expected to wrap up by October. The facility will house 135 employees relocated from seven current Hexagon facilities in nearby Ann Arbor, Rochester Hills, Southfield, Troy, and Wixom.

The company also expects to add an undisclosed number of new jobs over the next year to 18 months, according to the report.

Crain’s reported that Hexagon’s production, simulation, infrastructure, and quality management software applications would be housed at the facility, along with its metrology solutions and autonomous vehicle capabilities. The campus will include laboratory and calibration facilities, a showroom and demonstration area, and a technical training center.

"Ultimately, this state-of-the-art facility reflects the next phase in Hexagon’s own data-driven evolution across industries to shape smart change,” Angus Taylor, the head of the company’s North American Manufacturing Intelligence segment, said in a statement.
