Refrigeration systems manufacturer Rivacold announced this week that it will open its first U.S. facility outside of Atlanta.
The $5 million design and production center in Buford, Georgia is expected to create 140 new jobs, Governor Brian Kemp’s office said Thursday.
Rivacold, based in Italy, currently employs about 1,200 people worldwide, and its products are used in the medical, food retail, and dairy industries, as well as in vending machines.
Company officials said they are eager for Rivacold to prove itself in the North American market after more than 50 years in Europe.
“Throughout our experience, we’ve learned that the only way to serve customers properly is to have local design and manufacturing to meet the rapidly changing demands of our customer base,” Doug Schmidt, the company’s North American president, said in the announcement.
