California-based construction company Civ Robotics hasannouncedits latest device that lets contractors stripe more quickly and efficiently. Named CivDash, the robot is reportedly capable of striping various services, including parking lots, airports, and roads.
Weighing 25 pounds, CivDash features a spraying mechanism, space for two extra paint spray cans, an obstacle detection sensor, an emergency beacon light, and eight hours of battery life.
According to Civ Robotics, CivDash can provide 16 miles of solid or dashed striping in one workday with an accuracy of about three centimeters. It also eliminates the need for pulling tape and string lines and increases safety through remote operations.
Users can operate the robot from up to 100 feet away via a preinstalled software called CivPlan. After uploading blueprints, users select their preferred order for marking lines, pick between solid or dashed, and deploy the robot. CivPlan will notify users when it is time to change a paint spray can and can generate reports of coordinates with tolerance level, time stamps, and ground elevation.
Civ Robotics designed CivDash to be compatible with other companies’ base stations, including Trimble, Topcon, and Leica. It is equipped to work with Trimble’s R780 GNSS receiver and can use Trimble’s TIP technology to survey faster with IMU-based tilt correction.
Civ Robotics also offers its CivDot and CivDot+ four-wheel drive rovers that lay out and stake coordinates. The CivDot can handle 30-degree slopes and operates for 12 hours with one battery swap.
