Plastics Manufacturer GOEX Expands to Utah

A Wisconsin plastics manufacturer on Friday announced plans to build a second facility in southwestern Utah.

GOEX Corp., which supplies plastic sheeting to the graphics, medical, and food packaging sectors, plans to invest $15 million in its new plant in Cedar City, officials from the Utah Governor’s Office of Economic Development said in a statement.

The project is expected to create 100 jobs within seven years, and company officials noted it could accommodate as many as 140 employees.

Construction of the 120,000-square foot facility follows an expansion in Janesville, Wisconsin, completed in 2015. The company said it would maintain its headquarters and research and development facilities in Janesville, and expects to continue its growth in southern Wisconsin, where it currently employs 200 people.

The second location will allow the company to take advantage of the technology already deployed in its Wisconsin operations to better supply customers in the western U.S., GOEX officials said.

“Our new Cedar City, Utah, location supports GOEX’s ongoing commitment to ensure timely delivery of extruded sheet products,” president and CEO Joshua Gray said in a statement.

GOEX is eligible for up to $365,299 in tax rebates — equivalent to 20% of new state taxes — over the seven-year term of its agreement with the state.
