Many dehumidifier applications involve controlling moisture in indoor swimming pool rooms, which are considered harsh environments due to added pool water disinfectants like chlorine and bromine. Dehumidifiers control the evaporating moisture from the surface of the pool to protect the integrity of the room’s structure. But the evaporator coils of the dehumidifier are also susceptible to premature breakdown.
Constructed from thin aluminum sheets and copper tubing, evaporator coils transfer temperature from the freon in the copper tubing to the air in the coil. Uncoated aluminum fins can corrode over time, reducing moisture removal efficiencies and pushing the compressor to work harder.
