Shield AI, Parry Labs Integrate Hivemind AI Pilot on EC Micro

On June 13, 2024, Shield AI and Parry Labs announced the successful test flight of a Kratos Firejet that was piloted autonomously using only AI combining their technologies. The companies partnered up to integrate Shield AI’s AI pilot, Hivemind, on Parry Labs’ edge compute micro, the EC Micro.

TheKratosMQM-178 aircraft impressively performed a range of complex maneuvers, demonstratingthe capabilities of this advanced autonomous technology.

Parry Labs’ EC Micro

Parry Labs, an industry-leading digital technology company, created the EC Micro—its smallest and most advanced edge computing solution. It has been specially designed to support various military software applications with its powerful CPU and GPU resources, handling tasks like autonomy, navigation, networking, and AI/machine learning applications.

The EC Micro has an open architecture digital infrastructure that can be integrated into different software and hardware systems. Its tiny size also makes it perfect for many different military missions—both air and ground—and command control.

Shield AI’s “Hivemind”

Hailed as the world’s best AI pilot,Hivemindwas built by defense technology company Shield AI, and has already successfully flown an array of military aircraft, including jets, drones, and quadcopters.

The EC Micro/Hivemind integration provides quick and efficient scalability and adaptability of the AI pilot across many different platforms and various interfaces, thereby maximizing its reach.

Shield AI, Parry Labs Partnership

Shield AI’s President and Co-Founder, Brandon Tseng, explained that the integration of the EC Micro will allow the company to deploy Hivemind across many different platforms much more swiftly and efficiently than if they were liaising with many different companies.

The CEO of Parry Labs, John Parkes, added that the successful demonstration on the Kratos aircraft with Shield AI and Parry Labs’ technology proves that using flexible and interchangeable parts is both practical and essential for quickly creating and updating autonomous technology to keep up with the latest advancements.

Shield AI, Parry Labs EC Micro/Hivemind Integration—Summary

The successful test flight of the Kratos Firejet that was autonomously piloted by Shield AI’s Hivemind using Parry Labs’ EC Micro shows just how powerful AI and edge computing can be together, offering a glimpse into the future of military technology.

The partnership between these companies is an important step towards the quick advancement and deployment of military technologies.
